Many of us don’t like who we are.
We spend a lot of time and energy trying to change.
And a worthy number of times we do change and like ourselves better for it.
So what of people who knew us when?
Many of them cannot accept the changes.
They carry the baggage gathered when we were different people.
They have a difficult time adjusting to who you are now.
But we who have changed don’t have time to bemoan who we were.
The exigencies of today and tomorrow preclude that.
We must leave those people in our rear view mirror.
Although there is that occasional breakthrough where an old friend can adjust and accept you as changed.
What a terrific feeling.
To have a friend both familiar to our past mistakes yet respecting our progress.
